Seth Green is starring in a new promo for Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, and IGN recently spoke to him on the set, as he filmed the commercial. During our conversation, we couldn't resist the chance to also ask the ever-busy writer/producer/actor about the upcoming Star Wars animated series he is working on with his Robot Chicken co-creator, Matthew Senreich.
Green stressed that one shouldn't look at the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars at all as far as searching for any similarities, remarking that his version is, after all, "a comedy show." But given that Star Wars is, well, Star Wars, would there be any action in the series as well?
"No more action than your average Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry," explained Green. "You know, it's action in that sense, but we are focusing on things that are funny about the universe as opposed to the wars themselves."
- Angela Weiss/Getty Images Entertainment Sure, we all might have a lot of Star Wars merchandise, but Seth Green can always trump us with "George Lucas was at my wedding."Green confirmed that the series would take place during the time frame of the original trilogy, not the prequels.
Said Green, "If you think about today's culture and our America and the fact that we are actively at war for over the last ten years… There's an ongoing war!" He then explained how this tied into the approach he and Senreich have with Star Wars and the characters they'll focus on, adding, "Now imagine that war was between the Rebels and the Empire and we're on some off world called Los Angeles where we really have no interaction with any of that stuff. That's kind of what this is."
